Laura and I often refer to “Rodney” or “Damn Rodneys” much to the confusion of our lubberly friends. The term is most often applied to careless power-boaters, blasting through moorages at 20 knots, kicking up tsunami-like wakes that shake every boat they pass. The term comes from the movie Caddyshack… Where Rodney Dangerfield has a particularly memorable scene trying to control his behemoth yacht. The clip is provided below.
